Homage to all things Larry!
This site pays tribute to one of the finest adventure series ever made and to Al Lowe - the man who created, lived and breathed the character from the start until he (Larry) left the store shelves for the last time in the late 90's.
Leisure Suit Larry has been with computer games players for so long it's easy to forget how things were when the game first hit the shelves. I personally only had access to a [very expensive] Compaq Deskpro PC at work, that was fortunately upgraded with EGA graphics days before someone brought in a new game from home. The game was the first Leisure Suit Larry - In the Land of the Lounge Lizards. Before then I'd been playing text-only adventures from Infocom and boy was Larry different! The thing that set it apart from all other games it had humor aimed directly at 'adults'.
Over the past year or so, I've managed to [re]acquire (mostly from eBay) a whole bunch of Sierra adventures - namely the Collector's Editions. I managed to miss the latest incarnations of these games so I though it prudent to grab them now before they 'disappeared forever'. Technology has come a long LONG way since the days of Larry 1!
Trawling the web soon after, it came as a bit of a surprise to me, but most Sierra adventure related web sites worth visiting (and remain active) seem to cover the King's Quest and Space Quest series. The number of decent Larry sites had dwindled down to one or two and even these were looking very static. So here I am, adding to the mix! A new Larry site for a new age - built only for fun but will remain active as long as you (the users) keep it that way!
The site will be under construction for a while to come. I plan to do a game page set every 2 to 4 weeks but work and family commitments may have other ideas!
Use the menu on the right to navigate around the site. I'll be putting more features as I go, so please check back soon!
The forum will have most recent news, tips and downloads. Please feel free to post a message.
The site is written to the strict variant of XHTML1.1 and uses CSS2 for the layout. Obviously, I wanted to stress my technical mind as well as creative ability in the site!
