I also have same system with apparent 'software' issues with the DVD player, for instance it will not eject or power down correctly when the audio is connected to the receiver either using the remote or front buttons - very strange & frustrating. It had stopped reading any DVDs - finally displaying "No Disc" after whirring around for a bit. I took it apart and saw a small plastic cog in the bottom of the unit. It came from the DVD head drive motor spindle so without it, the head wasn't able to move. I had to strip out the complete drive from the casing in order to gain access to the spindle but after 20 minutes the DVD player is once again working! Further issue with the DVD player.
