I’ve had a bit of spare time to get the plugin operating as I would want so I’ve now transferred the old data in and enabled it.
Before anyone asks “where’s the source code?”, I need to do a clean-up of a couple of the classes and when it’s in reasonable shape, I’ll upload it to the WordPress plugin repository.
It uses as custom mySQL table to store entries, WordPress options table to store plugin option data and pChart 2.0 for graphical presentation.
Those who follow my babble (there must be some as the feeds must feed something!) will have noticed my lack of posting of late. Whilst I was keen on tracking my riding I couldn’t do that as I had an operation on my toe.
This has almost recovered (well, it’s out of wrappings though this is actually down to it falling off rather than a health professional advising me) and I hope to be returning to the saddle once again.
I have decided that I need to write a better plugin for the cycling progress. It was never my intention to have post after post recording the progress but that was the best plug-in I could find. I don’t have a lot of energy at the moment so I’ll record offline then revamp the entries once I’ve sorted the plugin.
My friend and I haven’t been out riding together for a while but we arranged a ride out to get him reacquainted with his bike. We adjusted our normal circuit to add a welcome bit of variety taking in the sights of some more of the local villages. It wasn’t an overly long ride but offered a good couple of hours pleasure in the saddle.
We made the most of the of the great Sunday weather and I only hope the remainder of summer weather will be a little more consistent as June has been pretty poor up to now…
Activity Summary

My 2nd time attending the event – you turn up, pay £3 and cycle around Castle Combe [the wrong way]. I rode over to the track so had to do some laps and ride back before sunset. I set out to do 10 laps (approx 20 miles) and that’s what I did. There didn’t seem to be so many people on the track as a couple of years back but I expect that driven by the ominous looking rain clouds (which thankfully held off emptying their content on me!).

After all the planning and preparation I’m embarrassed to report that my ride didn’t go to plan… A [simple] mistake like setting the alarm incorrectly meant I missed the coach to Hyde Park
Waking up to a light room meant the day was a disaster in the making. My bike had made it to London without me and I couldn’t raise anyone to get a handle on what the viable options were. Steve, one of the organisers, was eventually contacted – I sincerely apologise for the early morning call – and he declared that the event rules meant the Synapse was simply going to return back to Yatton Keynell. I could have waited until it arrived and go for one of the mid distance rides but I felt that would do a huge disservice to those who have sponsored me. Throwing ideas around I had but one viable choice: make my way to The Halfway Inn on my daughter’s bike
