Although I’ve had quite a bit of spare time lately I’ve not felt like using the bike much. This time last year we had snow, lots of snow, and whilst this year is nothing like as bad, I’ve concluded that a lack of Winter kit is the primary reason for my lack of mileage.
Anyone who’s interested in cycling will quickly agree that kitting oneself for all seasons whilst not cheap, is necessary.
I’ve had a bit of spare time to get the plugin operating as I would want so I’ve now transferred the old data in and enabled it.
Before anyone asks “where’s the source code?”, I need to do a clean-up of a couple of the classes and when it’s in reasonable shape, I’ll upload it to the WordPress plugin repository.
It uses as custom mySQL table to store entries, WordPress options table to store plugin option data and pChart 2.0 for graphical presentation.
Those who follow my babble (there must be some as the feeds must feed something!) will have noticed my lack of posting of late. Whilst I was keen on tracking my riding I couldn’t do that as I had an operation on my toe.
This has almost recovered (well, it’s out of wrappings though this is actually down to it falling off rather than a health professional advising me) and I hope to be returning to the saddle once again.
I have decided that I need to write a better plugin for the cycling progress. It was never my intention to have post after post recording the progress but that was the best plug-in I could find. I don’t have a lot of energy at the moment so I’ll record offline then revamp the entries once I’ve sorted the plugin.
My friend and I haven’t been out riding together for a while but we arranged a ride out to get him reacquainted with his bike. We adjusted our normal circuit to add a welcome bit of variety taking in the sights of some more of the local villages. It wasn’t an overly long ride but offered a good couple of hours pleasure in the saddle.
We made the most of the of the great Sunday weather and I only hope the remainder of summer weather will be a little more consistent as June has been pretty poor up to now…

My 2nd time attending the event – you turn up, pay £3 and cycle around Castle Combe [the wrong way]. I rode over to the track so had to do some laps and ride back before sunset. I set out to do 10 laps (approx 20 miles) and that’s what I did. There didn’t seem to be so many people on the track as a couple of years back but I expect that driven by the ominous looking rain clouds (which thankfully held off emptying their content on me!).
