More of the white stuff

The UK is white once again, a near certain white Christmas it would seem :whoohoo:

It has shown up how bad a rear wheel drive car can be. All my previous cars have been front wheel drive and whilst somewhat difficult at times it doesn’t compare with the ease at which the back end now steps out!  Will just have to get used to it I suppose  :violin: or take up :rally:

Another year of sport closes

MotoGP was for the most part predicatble. Lorenzo took advantage of the others misfortune and made the title his. Pre [2011] season testing got underway with many of the expected faces at the top of the file. Rossi perhaps wasn’t expecting to be at the top of the pile but a lowly 15th could be a sign of the huge amount of work to do!

F1 – well, it came down to 1 race and 4 contenders… unfortunately the spectacle was all F1 – in that there rarely is one. Webber, my preferred champion, didn’t qualify well but any chance of the title was removed once he and Alonso had to follow a slow[er] Petrvo. A dull race that promised lots but delivered little.

The final WRC round added to Loeb’s tally. Rallying coverage in the UK really needs attention but I doubt that’ll happen.

Visual Studio 2010 released

On the 12th as planned, Microsoft released Visual Studio 2010. As an update it’s pretty extensive where not all of it’s good but it’s the way of the future so progress we must.

With it, the latest .NET Framework, 4, was available. This also includes a ‘client profile’ release of .NET 4 which I personally feel is a complete and utter waste of time only serving to confuse the hell out of developers and users alike. For the sake of a few MB, install the full runtime and ignore the marketing spin. if Microsoft were serious about runtime size, they’d have scrapped the .NET Framework for UI/desktop and moved everyone to Silverlight…

This brings me neatly to another release – Silverlight 4 (although delayed until the 18th). Somewhat strangely the development tools are provided at an RC2 release version. RTM is expected ‘soon’.

It must be hard to release so many ‘seperate’ things at once!
