MotoGP spins up a new season… Live on Eurosport

A lot of the news between last season and this was the change in UK broadcasting. British Eurosport would no longer be showing MotoGP as the BBC had brokered a deal with Dorna. However an eleventh hour change meant Eurosport could show the pinnacle of motorcycle racing albeit with the MotoGP class time shifted so the BBC retained the live distribution rights.

After the heavens opened, the first MotoGP race of the year was postponed till the Monday and the BBC got its chance to really showed their commitment to MotoGP (which up to now in my opinion has been considerably lacking – quite the opposite of F1 which is as good as it was when on ITV; better if you take into account no advert breaks).

Unfortunately, some muppet(s) at the BBC decided they could not accommodate the change in scheduling and so meant that the race would only be accessible to viewers via red button or iPlayer services! Consequently (I would imagine) Eurosport were granted rights to show the race live and it was a great show.

Toby, Julian and Neil provided their insightful input balancing humour and fact to once again make the programme both informative and interesting. The racing was somewhat expected – Stoner charged off into the distance to win, Rossi the only rider making any sort of ‘challenge’ coming in 2nd and Lorenzo rounding off the top 3.
