Block laying this weekend. Went very well, reasonable weather, good progress! Back to bricks next week (did a few on Sunday!). Now only need a good few days so I can cut the cavity through into the existing wall!

Had to remove a load of bricks – doh! The cement had gone off and didn’t set as hard as I thought it should have done so I trashed the lot and did it all again. Damn shame as it was the yellow vertical bricks :-(

A valuable lesson was learnt here. Don’t skimp on the required tools. It costs next to nothing for cement but George persuaded me to use the open bag – we didn’t make that mistake again!

After a long hibernation, building work on the extension restarted today.

I always planned to stop work across the winter months. The main problem was the rain and my speed of bricklaying – the two elements didn’t allow for the best finish.
