More bricks arrive

Another 400 yellow bricks arrived today – I was 100 short but they are only sold in full palette quantities.. The delivery driver also moved my ‘spare’ red bricks to a less prominent location – all 900 of them!

Over supply of the red bricks were down to a miscommunication of the palette quantity – I was told 400, so I purchased 10 palettes.. In fact each one held 445 so I ended up with ‘an extra’ palette. Apart from this, I was absolutely spot on with my estimation :)

Windows 2000 Recovery Console

Windows 2000 comes with a very handy ‘utility’ called the Recovery Console. It provides a ‘command prompt’ bootup so a disk may be accessed in order to recover from boot failure. The Recovery Console is NOT installed by default and so must be manually installed.

Navigateto the \I386 folder on the Windows 2000 CD and run Wiinnt32.exe /cmdcons

This will install the Recovery Console, adding it to the boot menu (which would have normally been hidden on Windows 2000 menu). The boot menu timeout may be set to 0 seconds (it will never show) as the command console may be started by pressing F8 when prompted.

General update

Building work on the extension is progressing reasonably well – we have just completed to the height of the base of the 1st floor windows.

Another delay

Unfortunately, building has been halted by a rather lengthy delivery for window formers. Brickwork has been progressing well – blocks are at window cill level with bricks about a foot lower.

What can I say? Delays were costing me time and denting my enthusiasm. This delay was courtesy of Jeld-Wen UK.
