Windows 2000 Recovery Console

Windows 2000 comes with a very handy ‘utility’ called the Recovery Console. It provides a ‘command prompt’ bootup so a disk may be accessed in order to recover from boot failure. The Recovery Console is NOT installed by default and so must be manually installed.

Navigateto the \I386 folder on the Windows 2000 CD and run Wiinnt32.exe /cmdcons

This will install the Recovery Console, adding it to the boot menu (which would have normally been hidden on Windows 2000 menu). The boot menu timeout may be set to 0 seconds (it will never show) as the command console may be started by pressing F8 when prompted.

Diminished supplies

Currently trying to sort out some more yellow bricks and the roof trusses.

A miscalculation on how many yellow bricks I needed led to a shortfall of 100 or so. Major problem was going to be cost - they would only sell me a palette work (approx 400) and a delivery charge was £85 :(

Roof trusses were much better managed. I purchased a ‘How-To’ book from the Trussed Rafter Association. This was extremely helpful enabling me to understand what to talk to the suppliers about.
